Who needs ITIL certification & How to get it

Advancements in recent technologies have made the ITIL certification one of the primary requirements as most organizations have started their business with the information technology as the backbone.

True to the name they cater voluminous knowledge to the person who has taken ITIL certification.

Not everyone in the world requires the ITIL certification. Only the folks who focus their work on IT service management need special concentration on the ITIL certification.

It is highly recommended for folks with positions such as quality analysts, support teams, administrators, managing directors, generals, development teams, research and professional teams etc.

Also, the process for getting the ITIL certification isn’t that easy. It requires a series of learning procedures and certifications to get through each examination.

Over July 2018, AXELOS took over the responsibility to confer the ITIL training to the trainees. To accomplish the task the AXELOS made hundreds of Accredited Training Organizations (ATO) to impart training and certification to the trainees.

Levels of training
Unlike other certifications, ITIL certifications are conducted in 5 different levels which include:

1. Foundation level
2. Practitioner level
3. Intermediate level
4. Expert level
5. Master level

The ITIL certification is provided on the basis of credits. Each level of the ITIL certification has a specific limit of credits which should be obtained in order to qualify for the next level.

1. Foundation level
As you know ITIL is a comprehensive and dynamic framework which helps you to manage and govern the IT services within a organization. This is the phase in which the a beginner who desires to get an ITIL certification starts.

They undergo a series of trainings in the basic concepts, algorithms, working and handling data of different organizations. Also, a particular percentage of the overall marks are to be obtained in order to move from the foundation level to the practitioner level.

2. Practitioner level

At the practitioner level of the ITIL certification, the trainee is supposed to get 3 credits in order to qualify for the next level. Moreover, a foundation level certificate is essential to undergo the training in the practitioner level. This is the level which imparts education about the framework of the application and its adoption techniques.

3. Intermediate level

The intermediate level of the ITIL certification provides a new introduction to the ITSM technology which is an entirely new project to the trainee. This certification is the primary requirement of any general industry which in order to reach the culmination.

This level also involves two modules. One module posses 5 papers and the other model possess 4 papers. Service strategies, service designs, service operation, service transition, continual service improvements are the elements of the service lifecycle module and the service capability module involves, operational, support and analysis, planning, protection and optimization, validation and agreements.

A candidate can select one of the two papers and get qualified in order to reach the next level.

4. Expert level
The ITIL approach is macroscopically viewed in this level which required vast knowledge about all the nook and corners of this field.

So, far from the above levels, you should have earned 17 credits to reach this level. As this level is the primary pedestal to the ITIL certification.

Five more credits are required to get through another examination called “Managing across the Life Cycle module”. The only way to enter the master level is this MALC examination which holds 22 credits.

5. Master level
The master ITIL examination can be undergone with two pre-requisites which include the ITIL expert certification and the 5 years of experience in the leadership role of ITSM.

Once you have attained the ITIL master level you should be very clear about the nook and corner of the ITIL management services which is the pinnacle of the ITIL certification.
